Beyond Heaven: Speculations On The Future Of Consciousness

I started working on this book in 2003. I wrote almost 250 pages. About half of its contents were published as stand-alone pieces on places like Future Hi and my own website. The aim of the book was to be both as visionary as possible and grounded in solid research (over 300 references). The trouble with writing a book that attempts to back up it's visionary poetics with the grounded realities of the present, is that by the time you've spent a year on the book, the ideas you've started with feel old, as better more integrated ones take root. Perhaps this is why I find it much more appealing to write as the spirit moves me and publish the results immediately on the web. The downside is that others have lifted some of my works verbatim and reposted it as their own. Because of ongoing commitments, I soon realized the only way to write a book of this depth and keep it fresh is to devote ALL of my time to it until it's completed. This is the secret behind many successful authors (they have a patron or a job with lots of free time). Perhaps one day when I have the means, I will sit down and complete this book along with many other book ideas (both fiction and non-fiction).
