George Carlin Dies, Obama & Other Updates

George Carlin has always been my favorite comedian, ever since I was about 15 and only understood about half his jokes, and all the way up to the present.  I know of no other comedian who had the refreshing and irreverent attitude that Carlin did and with such wit, intelligence and character.  I'm very saddened by this loss.

I recently finished my first year of PhD studies, so it left me little time to blog.

It seems that Obama has been shamelessly peddling the "politics of hope" the same way Bush peddled the "politics of fear" - for the sole purpose of gaining power.  Within a week of winning the nomination, Obama's had meetings with neoconservatives, AIPAC, and has already gone back on several campaign promises, including the most crucial fight for saving what's left of the 4th ammedment with the fight over FISA and telecom immunity.  If there was ever a time to show leadership it was then.  Most americans polled are against it, and Obama had no logical reason to support it, but instead he's one of THEM now. His pathetic excuse for a letter explaining how security trumps the constitution is nauseating in it's insult.  How stupid does he think we are?  As a result, the passing of FISA in the senate will result not only in a total evisceration of the 4th amendment, but a precedent that governments and corporations can now do anything they want.  If it turns out their actions are illegal, well they'll just get congress to grant them retroactive immunity.  Fascist tyranny in action.   Oh, and Obama is now saying he will not open diplomatic relations with Iran, another broken campaign promise.  IF there was anything I thought he might be different on, it was foreign policy.  Our current one is a total disaster for the world, peace, security, and the economy.  Obama is shaping up to be the Tony Blair of the US.  It's politics as usual.  And to think I actually believed in him for the last few months. Silly me.

Stay tuned for a critique of neurotheology, and some of my recent findings on Yoga endocrinology (stay with me on that one - it's amazingly hopeful).  On another hopeful not, I'm also going to discuss the emerging solar economy.

I hope everyone out there is having a great summer so far.
