I had never been to the school before, and didn’t know what to expect. I was overwhelmed at how nice this place was. One of the first things that struck me was the spectacularly beautiful art on display throughout the hallways by Dana Lynne Anderson.
Her website Awakening Arts has a gallery of all her work. The canvases she works with are HUGE, in most cases going from floor to ceiling (the ones pictured here are from 6 to 8 ft tall), so the images on her website do not do justice to just how good her work is when you’re right next to it. It has tremendous texture and feel, as well as a kind of metallic glimmer to the paint. The detail in each square inch is almost overwhelming. It is some of the most beautiful artwork I’ve ever seen, and certainly among the most soothing I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in my long life as an art buff.
She sells prints of all of her work, and she has public exhibitions over the next few months in the Bay Area. If you’re in that area, you should take the time to check her work out.
